About this event
Michael McClure with Jack Hirschman and Vojo Sindolic Extraordinary new Casa della Poesia event! Wednesday 11 June at 9.00 pm as part of the "Other Americas" project, an absolutely prestigious event. In the Salerno Energia Auditorium, in via Passaro, n. 1 (Torrione Alto), in Salerno, a great poet and legendary figure of the beat generation and American counterculture: Michael McClure. Born on October 20, 1932 in Marysville, Kansas, Michael McClure at age 22 attended the legendary Six Gallery Event in San Francisco, where Allen Ginsberg first read "Howl," and which was later retold in Jack Kerouac's "Dharma Burms." Since then, McClure has become one of the key members of the beat generation (immortalized as Pat McLear in Kerouac's "Big Sur") and as a symbolic figure of the "Sixties" counterculture. Spectacular, intense, provocative reading, as in the best American tradition. With the participation of jazz pianist Gaspare Di Lieto. Doing the honors are two other extraordinary poets, among the founders of the House of Poetry, Jack Hirschman and Vojo Sindolic. Thursday 12 June, starting from 8.00 pm in the new headquarters of the House of Poetry, Baronissi (via Convento 21/A), there will be a small farewell party with the guest poets of the "house of poets". It will be an opportunity to chat with them informally and to attend (at 9.00 pm) the screening of the film (in original language) "The Third Mind. Michael McClure & Ray Manzarek" (with contributions from Allen Ginsberg, Diane Di Prima, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Anne Waldman, Ed Sanders, etc. etc.). Furthermore, those who have not yet done so will be able to visit "the house of poets", the house-accommodation of the House of Poetry.
