Extraordinary event dedicated to the poetry of Latin America. On the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of February, in the premises of the House of Poetry, at the Convent of S. Francesco di Baronissi (Salerno), some prestigious protagonists of contemporary poetry will be present. The first guest, on February 21, at 8.30 pm, will be Ernesto Cardenal, poet, religious, former minister of culture of the Sandinista government of Nicaragua, one of the loudest voices on the Latin American continent. One of the greatest poets of the second half of the twentieth century and also an absolute reference for those who have reflected on the possibility of combining Christianity with the liberation struggles in Latin America. On February 22, at 8.30 pm, it will be the turn of Jorge Enrique Adoum from Ecuador, one of the most important writers and intellectuals in Latin America. Former personal secretary of Neruda, representative of UNESCO, convinced traveling companion of the "Cuban revolution". Author of some of the most beautiful and important books of contemporary Latin American literature. On February 23, again at 8.30 pm (this year marks the centenary of the birth of the great Chilean poet Pablo Neruda), the film "Pablo: death of a poet" by Manuel Basoalto dedicated to the funeral of Pablo Neruda in Santiago de Chile, the first act of rebellion against the Pinochet dictatorship, will be screened. At the end of the screening, Jorge Enrique Adoum and Ernesto Cardenal will testify about their real and cultural ties with Neruda. The 35-minute film is in the original language. Before the meetings, scheduled for 8.30 pm, in the rooms of Casa della Poesia, as part of the "voices of poetry" project, it will be possible to listen (with simultaneous translation) to the great voices of Latin American poetry.
