Information

INTERNATIONAL "HOUSE OF POETRY - REGINA COPPOLA" AWARD, 2024 VII edition Proclamation of the winner - Motivation The jury has decided to award the seventh edition of the International House of Poetry Award "Regina Coppola" 2024 to ADA SALAS. Ada Salas was born in Caceres, a city in Extremadura in the north-west of Spain, she lived for a long time in Madrid where she taught in the city's high schools. This year she returned to Caceres as cultural director of the city. She has published many books of poetry, essays and plays, becoming a leading author of that generation of Spanish poets who are increasingly establishing themselves, like a wave. In Ada Salas's poetry, words are breaches or fissures, cracks that open in the wall of reality to make it a habitable place, to build other realities. Therefore, fragments, suspensions, traces, imprints to decipher, concrete and sometimes mysterious signals to interpret. A journey full of surprises, charm, intuitions. The unexpected, the mystery of life, the hope of deciphering the essence, of trying to bring closer the meaning of life that is within us can be converted into song, can move us and surprise us, bring us closer to the sense of absence or open windows on creation. Ada Salas' poetry, so intense, dry, essential, moves us and gives us hope. For her original and cliché-free, eclectic and evocative work, for having valorised and favored the affirmation of female writing, for the overall body of her work and for her great human and social sensitivity, for her dedication to teaching and cultural organisation, the jury believes, in coherence with the programmatic intentions already mentioned, to award Ada Salas this prize dedicated to the memory of Regina Coppola.
