Michael McClure, nato il 20 ottobre 1932 a Marysville, Kansas, è famoso per la popolarità delle sue dinamiche performances poetiche. A 22 anni partecipò ad un reading diventato leggendario al Six Gallery Event di San Francisco, in cui Allen Ginsberg lesse per la prima volta “Howl”, e che fu poi in seguito raccontato in “Dharma Burms” di Jack Kerouac.
