About this event
In Salerno, the day of June 3rd will be dedicated to the memory of Izet Sarajlić, great poet, citizen of Sarajevo and honorary citizen of the city of Salerno and honorary president of our House of Poetry. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Salerno and the Province of Salerno and curated by Multimedia Edizioni / Casa della Poesia, includes an "official" ceremony in the morning (11.00 am) in the Palazzo di Città, in which the following will participate: Dr. Mario De Biase (Mayor of Salerno), Dr. Alfonso Andria (President of the Province), Dr. Ermanno Guerra (Councillor for Cultural Policies of the Municipality of Salerno), Dr. Luksa Soljan (Ambassador of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina), Dr. Muhidin Hamamdžić (Mayor of Sarajevo), Tamara Sarajlic (daughter of Izet Sarajlić), Dr. Raffaella Marzano (Director of Multimedia Editions / House of Poetry), Dr. Sinan Gudžević (poet, translator). On the same occasion, Mario Boccia's exhibition "Let us forgive the grass" will be inaugurated (already presented in Sarajevo and enriched by the images of last October's event). The series of images dedicated to Sarajlić and the Bosnian war will be on display in the Salone dei Marmi. At the end of the commemoration, a plaque with poetry dedicated to Sarajlić will be installed in the municipal villa by the Mayor of Salerno and the Mayor of Sarajevo. 5 maxi-posters (3 m. x 6 m.) with poems by Sarajlić will be placed in the city. In the evening (9.00 pm) at the Quadriportico of the Pia Casa di Riposo (Madonna delle Grazie) a poetic reading will bring together Bosnian poets (and those from the former Yugoslavia) and Italian poets in the name of Sarajlić. There will be some extraordinary interpreters of Slavic poetry (Marko Vešović, Josip Osti, Sinan Gudžević), Italian poetry (Giancarlo Cavallo, Erri De Luca, Alberto Masala, Giacomo Trinci) and musicians: Sergio Avallone (piano), Gabriele Cini (guitar and voice), Gaspare Di Lieto (piano), Ferdinando Gandolfi (wind instruments), Massimo Mollo (guitar and vocals). Videos of Sarajlić and the Sarajevo International Poetry Meetings will also be shown.
