Resistant poetry! Napolipoesia 2010. International poetry meetings.
About this event
“Resistant poetry!”. We wanted to use this title and this track for the 2010 edition of Napolipoesia, certain of being able to suggest many possible interpretations. The first certainly refers to the overall difficulties facing culture today and even more so such a marginal and ethereal language of communication. Poetry is certainly a form of cultural, moral and spiritual resistance. On this occasion we wanted to present a poetic research which, dealing with reality, tries with the word to pierce the darkness of the contemporary world and to counteract the pain of existence with the apparently fragile yet powerful weapon of poetry, which communicates directly with the hearts and minds of people, builds forms of resistance of the soul, speaking about life, people, love. It tries to organize meeting and exchange places, to build possibilities for dialogue and mutual understanding, offers testimonies and participation; research into the past, into traditions, into memories, yet it is continually evolving, projected into the future, as the only possibility of spiritual salvation for the human race. This edition of the International Poetry Meetings takes place in the heart of the city, in one of the most evocative and rich in history and culture areas. And in organizing the event we started from an objective consideration: 2010 is the fifteenth year of activity of the House of Poetry and for an autonomous and independent organization it is a great result. And this is also proof of the "resistance" of poetry. House of poetry has achieved a recognized and recognizable role on an international level. And it is precisely from its history that LA POESIA RESISTENTE! develops, which as part of the Forum of Cultures will have the former Filangieri nursery school (Vico Maffei, 4, San Gregorio Armeno) available for a few days. In the project of building an ideal place in which all the verses of the world meet, two great figures of poetry and literature emerge: Etel Adnan and Jack Hirschman. Two tributes will be dedicated to them. Then, according to the proven Napolipoesia scheme, two full days, with extraordinary guests from various corners of the world (but with particular attention to the Mediterranean area). Ten poets from ten different countries will enliven the sweet Neapolitan evenings: Etel Adnan (Lebanon), Metin Cengiz (Turkey) Francis Combes (France), Casimiro De Brito (Portugal), Alexandra Dominguez (Chile), Barbara Korun (Slovenia), Maram al-Masri (Syria), Juan Carlos Mestre (Spain), Sotirios Pastakas (Greece) and to represent Italian and Neapolitan poetry, Gabriele Frasca. A magnificent opportunity for Neapolitans and all people from Campania to reclaim some of the most characteristic places in the ancient center of the city, full of history as well as life. An unrepeatable opportunity, for those coming from further afield, to visit an enchanting city, to immerse themselves in its beauty and its culture and to spend three evenings listening to the verses of these travelers of the word. During the event, Casa della Poesia will present, with screenings and moments of listening, materials from its archives, among the largest on the international circuit. The poetry evenings will be filmed and broadcast via the web. Information: 089/951621 – 089/953869 – 347/6275911 – 3288450483
