Resistant poetry. International poetry meetings.
About this event
House of Poetry, in collaboration with the Municipality of Salerno, Department of Culture and University, the BSAE Superintendency, the University of Salerno and Salerno Energia organizes "Resistant poetry!", on 28 and 29 April and 2 May, at 8.30 pm, at the Diocesan Museum "San Matteo" (Largo Plebiscito, 10, Salerno). The event was born as a celebration of poetry and friendship to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the death of Izet Sarajlic, honorary president of the House of Poetry and honorary citizen of the city of Salerno. It is precisely in the name of Sarajlic that the House of Poetry organized a poetry festival in Sarajevo for 10 years, trying, at the end of the Bosnian war and the interminable siege of its capital, to "build bridges of peace with poetry". The guideline for this event is "Resistant poetry!", an expression that has various possibilities of interpretation. The poetic research, which we wanted to present on this occasion, confronting reality, tries with the word to pierce the darkness and to counteract the pain of existence with the fragile yet powerful weapon of poetry. Poetry as a form of cultural, moral and spiritual resistance communicates directly with the heart and mind, talks about life, people, love, is a place of meeting and exchange, builds multiple possibilities for dialogue and mutual understanding, offers testimonies and participation. It is research into the past, into traditions, into memories but it is still projected into the future, as a possibility of spiritual salvation for the human race. “Resistant poetry!” is divided into different moments, the first presents the proven House of Poetry scheme which includes two days full of readings, with guests from various corners of the world, poets and musicians. Among the guests present: Ferruccio Brugnaro (Italy), Michel Cassir (Lebanon/France) and Claudia Christiansen (France), Giancarlo Cavallo (Italy), Agneta Falk (Sweden/England), Andrea Garbin (Italy), Sinan Gudzevic (Serbia/Croatia), Jack Hirschman (United States) and Gaspare di Lieto (Italy), Gianluca Paciucci and Adriana Giacchetti (Italy), Sotirios Pastakas (Greece), Juan Vicente Piqueras (Spain), Lucija Stupica (Slovenia) and Henrik C. Enbohm (Sweden), Antonio Trucillo (Italy). And in video: Izet Sarajlic, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Leonard Cohen, Mario Benedetti and Daniel Viglietti, Ante Zemljar, Rafeef Ziadah, Allen Ginsberg, Juan Carlos Mestre, Janine Pommy Vega, Erri De Luca. Furthermore, the artist Salvatore Marrazzo will present a series of photographs entitled "Poets" while the poetry historian Francesco Napoli will hold a seminar on the relationship between Izet Sarajlic and Alfonso Gatto. After the two days with the poets “Resistant poetry!” returns on May 2nd with the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the death of Izet Sarajlic - as he would have wanted, without rhetoric, with joy, with poetry, music, toasts - through readings, stories, testimonies, songs and the screening of the extraordinary video testimony from Sarajevo under siege, "Izet Sarajlic, Sarajevo, March 1994". Twenty years after the beginning of the tragedy of the Bosnian war and the siege of Sarajevo, the martyr city and city of Izet Sarajlic, it will be the opportunity to talk about the experience of the House of Poetry in the Bosnian capital. A magnificent opportunity for the people of Salerno who want to share this experience to reclaim some of the most characteristic places in the ancient center of the city, full of history as well as life; an unrepeatable opportunity, for those coming from further afield, to visit an enchanting city, to immerse themselves in its beauty and its culture and to spend a few evenings listening to the verses of these travelers of the word. At the end of the evenings the poets and organizers will go for dinner at the Hostaria "Il Brigante" (a few meters from the Museum, via Fratelli Linguiti 4). Anyone wishing to join us to spend a few hours with us can book at a political cost of 15 euros (Il Brigante, tel. 3283423428). There are few places and therefore it is advisable to do it immediately. _______________________ Info: 089/953869 - 347/6275911
